The week was kind to Gov. Bobby Jindal, Louisiana's new governor but longtime boy wonder.

Thrust into the national limelight with a guest appearance on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno on Monday and a luncheon speaking engagement Friday at the National Press Club, Jindal delivered in a big way.

He was engaging, fun, prepared (no surprise there) and focused on the message: Louisiana is rebounding in many ways.

Sure, there was the speculation that Jindal may be on the list of possible vice presidential candidates for Republican front-runner John McCain. And why not? He complements the likely GOP nominee well.

Jindal is young, of Indian descent, glib and carries conservative credentials. He is clearly brilliant but in a comfortable way; he may know more than everyone in the room, but he talks down to nobody. He is instantly likeable.

He is also comfortable in the national limelight, although some national observers noted that he sure does talk a lot (no surprise there, either.)
