$1 billion state surplus was spent wisely- March 20, 2008

The issue: Special session.

We suggest: Mission accomplished.

Spending more than $1 billion doesn’t take very long in Baton Rouge.

The governor and Legislature managed to pass a spending plan for that much in state-surplus money during the recently ended special session.

Gov. Bobby Jindal’s plan included a host of tax breaks aimed at businesses and parents and also included a generous spending package aimed at infrastructure.

Overall, the plan was a good one, and we’re glad the state is off on such a good foot under Jindal’s still-new administration.
